So I went shopping today. I went shopping for formula. No big deal, right?
WRONG
This was the first time I needed formula. Baby boy has decided to grow up faster than I would have liked, but he is done nursing...So to Target I went.
But then I got to the formula aisle. O.M.Gosh. Overwhelming to say the least.
At first, my plan of attack is just pick something. No big deal....
But then my mind starts working in 50 different directions.
get one that makes him smart
get one that helps him stay healthy
get one with iron
get one with probiotics?!?! (as in- the opposite of antibiotics?)
get one with lipil? (and what is that?!)
get one that is easier to digest
get one that tastes good
get one that means I'M THE BEST MOM
Ugh. All the sudden this simple decision of formula was determining whether he would be a kindergarten drop-out or get to skip the first grade all together. I know, it's completely ridiculous.
I ended up using the ever-so-handy 'You get what you pay for' motto. As in, I literally searched for the most expensive formula per oz. I found it, and threw it in the cart.
Then, I remembered how much is in our bank account, so I promptly put it back and grabbed the Target brand sitting next to it. Welp, that made my decision MUCH easier :)
Decision:MADE (at least for today)
I would LOVE some feedback from mommies on what formula you have used or what not to use. And he is 7 months, if that matters...

HAHA!!! This was hilarious. I can't help you out in the formula department, but I love this post.
Formula=bank account killer. I used Enfamil for a couple of months, would buy a big thing of it at Sams, and it was about $33. Then I discovered that the Member's Mark brand (Sams brand) has literally the exact same ingredients ( I compared the entire backs of the canisters), and it costs $19 for a BIGGER canister. Anyway, Ev loves it. Has had no issues with it at all, and I would be happy to help you get some if y'all are not members there.
I had about 3 sample that I used up first. They were Enfamil. Seamed to work. Then when I had to buy it, I just got the Costco brand. It was WAY cheaper, bigger & says it does the same stuff as the others. My big complaint about that brand is that is was so foamy. I hated it, but it didn't seems to bother Elliot.
We used the Similac Advance (blue package) for Brody and had no problems. If you join the similac website, they send you coupons in the mail. I bought the large containers from Costco and was able to use my Similac coupons. Once baby Cash switches to formula, we will try that brand first. A friend of mine used Enfamil and had no problems.
This is HILARIOUS!
So Kinley also used Similac. I could probably pick out the can from a picture but I couldn't tell you anything about it except, KP transitioned very easily, and gained weight appropriately. She's excelling in Pre-School, is well liked by all her friends, has unbelievable performance skills and has an attitude the size of Texas. At this rate, she'll be making our living for us next year. I know, I know, I'll find out exactly which formula we used so you can have your very own Kinley-ized VALIN. coming right up! Thank you Similac
Thanks everyone for the super helpful info!! I think I'm going to use my SIL membership and head to Sams (no Costco around here)
Seriously, this was really helpful! Thanks!!!
