10 strikes and I am out!!!

When John came home with another stomach virus Thursday night. I crawled into the fetal position and cried and cried and cried and called my mom... Then I threw whatever clean clothes we had into a bag and yelled goodbye to John. (Sorry Babe)!!! I had hit my limit. I had actually hit it last weekend with a great pity party on Saturday afternoon, so after a week full of no breaks and John working late, his new sickness did me in!!!!
We left first thing Friday morning and drive 10 hours to meet my mom in Knoxville. We stayed the night and drove to Wake Forest on Saturday. There are so many stinkin hoops to jump through to get us to my parents. Money, LONG car ride (16 hrs if driven straight through...which is obviously not possible by myself with a 2 year old and a 1 year old), and you need lots of time because it isn't a trip you can make for just a few days!
But I was so up for jumping through whAtever hoop even if it was on fire, just for some help! So here we are, in NC.

Happy birthday

He is 29 today
The daddy, the doctor, the money maker, the won't drink a coke bc of the sugar, but sweet tea's sugar is okay ;), the driver on the left side if the road is empty, and therefore the heart attack maker of mine!
He is the goofy guy, or so serious, there's not much in the middle for him. Most of his guidance begins with "when in Rome"...and I'm hoping that wears off before the boys are teenagers 😬!
He loves a deal and he hates to spend, I guess that's why we mellow each other out!! He is time manager of the year, with a plate always full, I don't know how he handles it all. He studies, and works, and barely gets in sleep, but lately, he is also fill in mom!
And add chronic toilet fixer bc a toilet is always broken at our house!!
He hates to get sticky and is scared to death of spiders, but most other critters he doesn't mind!
He loves the st. louis cardinals, and baseball is certainly his favorite sport! He's lucky the Rangers are next in his line!!!
He is the biggest advocate for our children, and makes me wish I was a little more bold!
He is so very special to me and the boys!! We would be lost in this world without him!!

It's been a rough couple of weeks on his schedule, and so we haven't seen enough of him. But I'm thankful that he's working so hard and noting alllllll the time he has to make up!!!
Happy Birthday Johnny!!!

Blogger app

Umm how long has this been around?!?! So long blogpress, you NEVER worked for me!!
And since I'm posting anyways....
I just want to say that although I feel the need to "go socially public" with my pregnancy here at 12 weeks, I kinda hate the need to do this.
Not that I'm keeping it a secret (or want to), but I had a sweet friend who came to me, early in her pregnancy, after my miscarriage to let me know she was pregnant before everyone else knew. Her heart was in the sweetest place, taking caution and care in telling her friends who may experience some hurt or pain in pregnancy news. Each person handles things differently and feels different emotions, but if there was going to be any pain or jealousy in her news, it didn't even have a moment to take root. I felt so loved and amazed that she had to the courage to call me personally to tell me!
Anyways, that little story is just to say that I am very aware of the heartache that infertility and miscarriages can bring. And I'm so sorry.
This world is so full of hurt and pain, you need not look far to find it. But Jesus has the warmest embrace in that pain. I'm so thankful that this fallen earth is not where I'm spending eternity.
Sending love!!!!

12 weeks

Yep, we are having another baby, and today marks 12 weeks down. This pregnancy has definitely been the hardest so far! Not sure if its been the succession of sickness already in the house, or if it's just the pregnancy, but it has been quite a challenge. However, that being said, I am so grateful for this new little one! I had a miscarriage back in October, so the morning sickness has been a little comforting each day. We are praying and expecting a healthy little babe in October of 1013! So far, things look great!
If I could pick, I would pick a boy, and that means it will probably be a girl!! Which I will still be thrilled about! Either way, I am looking forward to finding out!!!
So that being said, we are having extremely lazy days around here!
My. Poor. Children!
I'm not exaggerating to say I'm on the couch all day long, I get up to feed and change diapers. We are in PJ's all day and the boys are barely getting baths...I'm praying that things let up in the next 2 weeks, or I may have an emotional breakdown!!!! (As if I haven't already 😉)
J has been EXTREMELY busy lately! Like all weekend, he was home for maybe 5 hours (sleep time included!) It has just been crazy for him! Which made for a slightly less "family style" easter, but as we all know the day was about Jesus' resurrection and really everything else is just pomp and circumstance (that I would have loved to have taken a part of!). But we did go see him up at the hospital, so here are pics of the boys on Easter! And just to make each of you feel better about yourself, I am showing you the disaster my house is in! (My mom will die!!!)

Bedtime Tales

First off, lets just be honest. I stink at updating this blog. I want to be better... However, this update was prompted by Amy...so Here we go!!:) :) :)
People, can I please take a minute and just complain. (good thing you can't answer me...)
UMM......I HATE having sick kids!!!! I'm so over this winter! We have battled, croup, RSV, ear infections, the stomach bug and numerous colds.....oh my dear, it has been a trying winter on this mommy!!!!!!!!! I'm over it. Sick kids are horrible. TRULY. I love them, but after the first cranky, whiny, coughing, runny nose, clingy, breath counting, rattle listening, up all night checking on them day.... I'm over it. I'm fairly certain L catches any virus within a 50 mile radius of him. Over it. totally over it. O_V_E_R_ I_T_!!!!!!!!!!
okay, that's all the complaining I have...for now ;)
We have moved V into a "big boy" bed and into L's room. I LOVE them sharing a room!!!! Its like they started forming a relationship when they started sleeping in the same room. Its sweet (sometimes) and funny others....and sometimes its scary! Most nap times and night times looks like this:

And sometimes like this:
but just the other day....I looked to find this:

WHOAA BUDDY, we have a problem!
I feel confident V wasn't trying to hurt him, just playing ....he never really got the whole "be gentle with the baby" from the beginning.
So, V can climb into L's crib, but he can't climb out, a slight problem. And, until recently he had done great waiting in his bed until we got him out, but now, Ive been awakened a number of times in the middle of the night by a little boy who wants to play. Not totally sure the remedy, but we will figure it out.
Here's a quick video of what playing looks like between these two:
and that is all I have for now..... Praying we make it to spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Back

I can't possibly even try to explain my absence...boys. therapy. snow. christmas. new machines. pity parties. no tv. lack of sleep. freezing my booty. no electricity. toddler training..... Let's just say its been a crazy fall/winter and leave it alone at that. Trust me, no one wants to hear my whinning soapbox!
Now, to today, we are cruising along here at the Harris household. V is talking more and more each day. L is pulling up and my guess is that he will be walking this summer (which would be HUGE!).
V is 2 and a half, and L is 14 months. I can't believe they are so big! And there isn't a baby in my house, which kinda feels strange.
I got an embroidery machine for Christmas! TA-DA! I love it! I'm learning a whole whole lot. Its kinda like learning a different language. Slightly frustrating at first, until you hit your groove.
But back to kiddies, the boys had a blast playing together last night. I'm fairly certain, that its the first time in 14 months that V has not only allowed, but even enjoyed L touching him. So fun!
Okay, I know its short for being gone for so long, but....keep loving me :) I'll be back in a flash

For John

Both boys are napping, and instead of doing laundry, cleaning house, or any other necessary chore, I am sitting down to blog. Only for you, John, ONLY for you ;)
Well....the boys are great! V is at a fun age where he seems to learn something new everyday. And L is finally getting to try table foods, so that has been a (messy) blast too!
V is off of his paci, and it was such a non-issue, that I still (2 weeks later) can't believe it wasn't any harder than it was. The only time I miss it is when he is throwing a TEXAS size tantrum and I can't cork him with it :) Other than being mad for the first 3-4 minutes, he's really done great without it. It is a wubbanub, and one of the awesome things about that is, he still gets to carry around the little giraffe for the familiar comfort his paci use to give him. Whoever invented the WUBBANUB was a genius! LOVE IT!
Okay, so we are off the paci, and also off the tv. As in, there has been no tv in this house for over a month now. No cable, not even a single channel. Honestly, I missed it for about the first week, and only at night when I wanted to watch one of my shows. But after that, I'm 30 thousand times more productive and I do like that. Side note: we still use the tv for dvds for the kids often! I'm not against tv AT ALL. But it was one small thing we could cut back on, and I kinda liked the challenge of it. So that's kinda cool. And one more note: this is sooooooooooooo NOT permanent. amen?!
What else is going on with these Harris'?....We did get back some stinkin precious Christmas pics of the boys! A sweet friend took them for us, while she was in town. I love them! I will try to upload some but right now, its been working on uploading 2 pics for 15 mins, so I'm not going to lie, it probably WON'T happen.
And...I've been keeping pretty busy with sewing projects. that's been awesome. Made a couple outfits, some bags, a dress, some Christmas hand towels and a blanket. Learned that I'm horrible at putting zippers in bulky material. BUMMER! But made some money none the less :) I am just loving all this sewing, however I'm so NOT good at the business side of things. Like I should totally be taking nice pics and uploading and redoing my website and adding my new stuff, but all I want to do is just sew. I need someone else to do the business side of it, and then I can just sit behind my machine! I'll get around to doing it myself eventually!
John is busy boy, with stories to tell all. Gag. Blood. Guts. Nastiness. He comes home with blood on him all the time, and the more there is, the better the story he has. PUKE! I'm just thankful he's enjoying it.
L is doing great! Crawling around everywhere, eating anything, and only giving me a hard time about drinking from a sippy cup. And that, I can handle! (not fix, just 'handle')
Vscares L on a daily basis. Usually by his scream/laugh, but sometimes from a simple-but-effective blow to the head. blocks, balls, dinosaurs, V isn't picky. And now that I have said that, I must follow it with the improvements V is making in his behavior! Really, he's doing great! I can take them both in a store without strapping them in, and I know V will (75% of the time) stay close and obey me. KNOCK_ON_WOOD!
Okay, nap time is over, I will upload/update more when I can! Love to my loyal readers :)
